From India Uncut

Hearing the case of a missing 13-year-old girl, a senior judge on the Bench [of the Delhi High Court] was “shocked” on hearing the girl’s name—“Nirasha” (disappointment). The judge went on to express his reservations about her parents’ choice and was keen to know the reason behind it. As expected, the lawyer for the parents had an answer ready: “My Lord, she was their fifth daughter.”

The state of affairs, no wonder. And according to TOI, thanks to Asians, US has got a skewed sex ratio. Although I doubt if the minority can seriously tilt their balance yet, food for thought.

its sad to still see that the sex ratios are going from bad to worse...... even educated people are acting the same way as uneducated ones ........ no idea what the solution for all this..... my own relative ( a BE and employee of a popular services company ) had expressed disappointment over the birth of his daughter ...... no idea when things would change for the better or will things get worse as shown in matrabhoomi :(

Well, when I was doing my internship in Pediatrics I did came across a baby girl who was named Nirasha. I was aghast and asked him how he could ruin her life with this name, and he said, her mother had died during childbirth. As if it was the baby's fault! I had a friend who refused to issue a discharge card till he changed her name to Asha. But then that's the way life is!
