Rania's story
Having a double entry in2 the feminist club(being convent girls school educated and part of the not-good-looking brigade) Rania al-Baz's story absolutely rivets me
As the young presenter of 'good morning kingdom' she was a well loved face in Saudi Arabia...till her husband smashed it..
assaulting her savagely he slammed her face against the floor till it suffered 13 fractures and thought her to be dead..
recovering at the hospital Rania did something unheard of in the Islamist state she publicised her beaten up pictures, sued her husband,pressed for divorce and won child custody-all of which unprecedented in a country were women are always covered in hijab
her case highly covered by the western media(i first read about her in readers digest) brought her support and wrath in equal degrees..
feeling no longer safe in Jeddah,she is now in Paris...
